The termination of the political appointee Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as the chairman of Prasarana is welcome. But more needs to be done to improve the performance and working conditions of our GLCs.

Undeniably, the performance of our GLCs is deteriorating in terms of working conditions, financial sustainability, and transparency in the hands of these incompetent political appointees.

The mismanagement of our GLCs due to the incompetence of political appointees is hurting the people, workers, and economy.

The government needs to recognise that the best people to manage our GLCs are the workers themselves.

The workers will not plunder nor mismanage their own “bread and butter” the way that the political appointees have.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) needs allow representatives of the workers’ unions to make up at least one third of the entire Board of Directors of these GLCs.

This practice is not something revolutionary as representatives of workers unions are members of Boards of Directors in many private and government corporations within the European Union (EU).

Besides that, Perikatan Nasional (PN) needs to allow the establishment of workers unions within the GLCs without workers union.
