As long as Azam Baki is around – no meaningful reform or investigation can take place

It is utterly absurd that despite overwhelming public calls for Azam Baki to be investigated, for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to be established, or for him to at least be placed on leave; none of these have happened.

People are now asking Victor Chin to lodge a report. But where can he report? The police will simply refer any corruption case back to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Yet the MACC itself has been implicated in the so-called “corporate mafia” scandal, as highlighted by Bloomberg and Malaysiakini. So when Sivarasa tells to “stop this foolish theatrics” is that not precisely what the MACC has become?

I understand that Albert Tei and Victor Chin may themselves be guilty of corrupting politicians. They themselves know that, one way or another, they will be implicated.

But until the Prime Minister sends Azam Baki on leave and establishes a truly independent commission to investigate these matters, it will appear that the Prime Minister’s own interests are what is truly at stake.
